Jammu, Feb 10 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday expressed hope that work on the Tulbul navigation project and the diversion of Chenab river water to provide drinking water to Jammu will begin soon. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the CM said that the state government is working with the Centre to start these projects following the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. “We are working with the Centre on two things after the Indus Water Treaty was put in abeyance — one, the Tulbul Navigation Project near Sopore, and second, lifting water from the Chenab river near Akhnoor to provide water supply to Jammu,” he said. He added that the water supply project had earlier been submitted to the Asian Development Bank but was stalled due to the treaty—(KNO)
